International Day of Cooperatives

The 6th of July is International Day of Cooperatives, and we want to highlight our longstanding partnership with Get Paper, a cooperative crafting our handmade paper products. Get Paper is dedicated to social development, supporting marginalised groups and making a difference in communities. Support them and make a difference with every purchase.

GetPaper combines traditional handmade paper crafts with an environmentally sustainable and commercially viable approach, primarily employing women from local communities. The organisation actively contributes to Nepal's social development by focusing on girls' education, AIDS awareness, and anti-trafficking initiatives.

Education for girls is GetPaper's main priority, addressing the neglect that many daughters still face in some communities of Nepal. GetPaper supports seven schools in the Kathmandu Valley, providing scholarships to over 200 girls from disadvantaged families annually.

To combat human trafficking, GetPaper fosters awareness and support groups, educating young Nepali girls about the risks and teaching them how to identify and avoid potential traffickers. The capacity-building and income-generating training programs empower women to become financially independent, securing a better future for themselves and their families.

GetPaper collaborates with international NGOs to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, focusing on high-risk populations such as sex workers. By organising and participating in various educational activities, GetPaper has successfully reached over 6,000 sex workers, offering crucial medical support and empowerment resources. These efforts not only improve the well-being of those directly impacted but also contribute to a broader understanding of HIV/AIDS within the community.
